Week 9 Fantasy Football Streamers for Each Position

The ninth week of the NFL season brings with it two more byes, for both the San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers respectively. It feels as though we endure a significant injury to our fantasy football lineup’s every single week. Last Sunday, one of our favorite streamers in Drake Maye went down with a concussion, and likely fantasy QB starter for many, Jordan Love, injured his groin. In these troubling times, finding the right streamer can be extremely important in helping your team stay afloat for another week. Hoping to help you out for yet another week, lets jump right into my favorite streamers for Week 9.

QB Streamer: Matthew Stafford LAR

The 2024 season has been subpar, to say the least for Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, who has struggled significantly without his two primary targets Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. In Week 8 he was finally able to reunite with not only Kupp, but also Puka Nacua, both of which opened the floodgates for Sean McVay’s offense. Matthew Stafford was the main beneficiary of both receivers’ long-awaited return, completing 25 out of 34 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns. In what should be an explosive game against the Seattle Seahawks this week, look no further than Matthew Stafford as a quality stream this week and beyond.

Honorable Mention: Bo Nix DEN

RB Streamer: Alexander Mattison LV

If you are struggling at running back in Week 9, whether it be due to injuries or those pesky bye weeks, if Alexander Mattison is on your waivers he can prove to be a solid spot start. The sheer volume has been Mattison’s upside the past four weeks or so, and if you are in need of a streamer, he can give you RB2 volume– even if it is on the Raiders offense. Mattison has managed to rack up at least 17 touches in four straight bouts, and he is used regularly in the passing game. With a palatable matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals shaky defense this week, I think Mattison is a good volume play for yet another week.

Honorable Mention: Tyjae Spears TEN

WR Streamer: Rome Odunze CHI

We hit a home run last week with Cedric Tillman again, after he had a huge breakout game with Jameis Winston at the helm for the Cleveland Browns. It is hard to follow that up, but we are going to try our best to do it again, this week looking at Rome Odunze of the Chicago Bears. We have seen the flashes from the rookie tandem of Caleb Williams and Odunze, like in Week 3 against the Indianapolis Colts. The Bears and Shane Waldron are looking to bounce back this week against the Cardinals, as Williams will try to right the ship, and if he does, I like Odunze to have a sneaky good week.

P.S. – If Tillman is still available in your league, pick him up as he will be a great streamer/flex play rest of season.

Honorable Mention: Christian Watson GB

TE Streamer: Taysom Hill NO

Taysom Hill has returned from injury to this struggling New Orleans offense. However, they have a very favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers, who have allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this year. Hill always seems to have a high upside in good fantasy matchups, as he can be a vulture sometimes on the Saints offense. If you are missing a George Kittle or a Pat Freiermuth this upcoming week, the Saints’ own utility man could be poised for a strong performance in Week 9.

Honorable Mention: Mike Gesicki CIN

K Streamer: Jake Bates DET

With the second-highest over/under of the week and the Lions consistently giving him opportunities to knock the ball through the goalposts, Jake Bates remains a great streamer candidate (and in my opinion, a great rest-of-season kicker). Even if he doesn’t get a ton of field goal attempts, the Lions score so many touchdowns that he has an extremely high floor with the sheer amount of extra-point opportunities he has. Bates should be a top-scoring kicker this week, and hopefully we can see more than one stop by the Packers defense in field goal range.

Honorable Mention: Joshua Karty LAR

D/ST Streamer: Washington Commanders D/ST

Shockingly, the Commanders have made their way to the Weekly Streamers article, where they find their defense playing much better than they did to start the season. The Commanders D/ST has scored 10+ fantasy points in three of their last four weeks, as they head to New Jersey for another great matchup against the New York Giants. The Giants have allowed 10 fantasy points on average to opposing defenses, with their lackluster offensive line allowing a significant number of sacks weekly.

Honorable Mention: New England Patriots D/ST
