Week 11 in the NFL was as eventful as any, and with the fantasy football playoffs quickly approaching, it’s important to monitor player trends. Below are the boom-and-bust fantasy players from week 11.
Boom
Taysom Hill N.O. TE 38.52 Points
Fantasy football’s biggest anomaly, Taysom Hill, had a historic day that nobody else is capable of. Hill finished with 7 carries for 138 yards and 3 TDs, 8 catches on 10 targets for 50 yards, 1/2 for 18 passing yards plus an interception and a fumble lost.
In all, that’s 17 touches for 206 yards and 3 TDs, good enough for 38.52 fantasy points. Hill can be a frustrating fantasy player to own, being that he isn’t consistently involved in the game plan. He is yet to have back-to-back double-digit point fantasy games this year.
After a game like this, it would be hard to keep him out of the lineup, especially if you’re looking for a late season spark.
Anthony Richardson IND QB 28.08 Points
After going 0-2 since naming Joe Flacco the starter, the Colts reverted back to Anthony Richardson. In his first game since taking his starting position back, Richardson looked more like the QB the Colts had hoped for.
He completed 20/30 passes for 272 yards and 1 TD. Being the dynamic athlete that he is (while not catching a breather), Richardson added 32 yards on the ground and 2 TDs.
AR5 faces the Detroit Lions next week, which will look much different than the poor Jets defense he played this week. Richardson should only be considered a deep streaming play, though better options should be available.
Jauan Jennings SF WR 20.1 Points
Since returning from injury, Jauan Jennings has been on a heater receiving 11 targets per game. Sunday against the Seahawks he hauled in 10 of 11 targets for 91 yards and a TD.
He has filled the missing WR spot left by the injured Brandon Aiyuk and proves to be a solid WR2 going forward in fantasy football.
Bust
Nick Chubb CLE RB 5 Points
Since returning from his major knee injury, Nick Chubb has not lived up to the unrealistic expectations put on him by fantasy football managers. Chubb was a popular mid-round RB in hopes that once he returned to the lineup, he would also return as a bona fide RB1.
Since returning, Chubb is averaging only 3.0 yards per carry and has scored just 1 TD. on Sunday, he carried the ball 11 times for 50 yards. Unless production picks up, Chubb will be a TD dependent play for the remainder of the season and should be on the bench.
Travis Kelce KC TE 1.8 Points
After a slow start to the season Kelce regained form as one of the best fantasy tight ends in the league, until week 11.
In his last 4 regular season games against the Bills, Kelce averaged 6 catches for 78 and 1 TD which it a no-brainer to start him this week. Buffalo wasn’t going to let him beat them again and held him to 8 yards on 2 catches. He was targeted just 4 times.
This should serve as a throw-away game for Kelce as he remains a TE1 going forward.
Justin Tucker BAL K 6 Points (ESPN)
Normally, I wouldn’t include a kicker or even consider a bad game a “bust”. This is no ordinary kicker though, this is the GOAT. My philosophy on fantasy kickers is to overdraft them so I can “set it and forget it”. My go-to has always been Justin Tucker, including this year.
After going 1/3 against the Steelers on Sunday, I am out on Tucker in 2024. He managed 2/2 on PATs and his saving grace was that his converted field goal was 50 yards, which is worth 5 points in most leagues.
At this point, he simply cannot be trusted, especially if you are penalized for missed kicks. Look over your pool of kicker free agents and if there is a better option, it’s time to drop Justin Tucker.
