The 2024 fantasy football season has officially come to a close and has led us to the first of our awards series voted on by you guys each day. Today’s article will be about all of the MVP candidates for the 2024 fantasy football season. The candidates up for MVP include Lamar Jackson, Ja’Marr Chase, Saquon Barkley, Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, Derrick Henry, and Josh Allen. Below are each candidate’s statistical breakdowns and a summary of their 2024 season with the voting poll at the bottom of the document to determine the winner. All Awards will be announced before Saturday’s playoff game.

MVP Candidates

Lamar Jackson QB BAL

Preseason ADP: 37.2

Points Per Game: 25.6 (Led all Players)

Stats: 4172 Passing Yards, 41 Touchdowns, 4 Interceptions, 915 Rushing Yards, 4 Rushing Touchdowns

Championship Win %: 20.8%

Summary: Lamar Jackson put together another dominant fantasy campaign finishing with his second-highest career points per game total behind his 5000 total yards and 45 total touchdowns. Jackson finished with eight 20+ point performances in the last nine games to close out potentially his third MVP campaign. This year he showed major development as a passer and will be the first quarterback off the board in next year’s draft.

Ja’Marr Chase WR CIN

Preseason ADP: 6.6

Points Per Game: 23.7 (Led all Non-QBs)

Stats: 127 Catches, 1708 Receiving Yards, 17 Touchdowns

Championship Win %: 21.5%

Summary: Ja’Marr Chase officially locked up the triple crown at wide receiver leading the league in catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns giving him a real shot against Saquon Barkley in the OPOY race. Chase might not win that award but was more dominant in fantasy leading all non-quarterbacks in scoring this season. He only went below 10 points once and had three performances over 41 points in 2024. In 2025, Chase will likely be the first receiver off the board if he is back in Cincinnati.

Saquon Barkley RB PHI

Preseason ADP: 9.2

Points Per Game: 22.2

Stats: 345 Carries, 2005 Rushing Yards, 13 Rushing Touchdowns, 33 Catches, 278 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving Touchdowns

Championship Win %: 15.2%

Summary: Saquon Barkley dealt with a bad offensive line and injuries during his time in New York never allowing him to reach his true fantasy potential. In 2024, he reached that potential with over 2000 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns allowing him to be the highest-scoring running back this season. Barkley had two different stretches this season with multiple 33-point performances in two different months. It was a homerun signing for the Eagles’ pairing his talent with an elite offensive line. Barkley will likely be the first or second player off of draft boards next season.

mvp
Jahmyr Gibbs RB DET

Preseason ADP: 12.8

Points Per Game: 21.3

Stats: 250 Carries, 1412 Rushing Yards, 16 Rushing Touchdowns, 52 Catches, 517 Receiving Yards, 4 Receiving Touchdowns

Championship Win %: 29% (Led all Players)

Summary: Gibbs has been a top option with his big play ability but his performances reached new heights after the injury to David Montgomery. He finished the season with four straight performances over 25 fantasy points showcasing his ceiling in a bell-cow role. Gibbs is one of the best dual-threat running backs out there and finished third among running backs in receiving yards. He might be a dark horse to win the MVP this year but Gibbs will be entering year three next season and could continue to be even better.

Bijan Robinson RB ATL

Preseason ADP: 3.2

Points Per Game: 20.1

Stats: 304 Carries, 1456 Rushing Yards, 14 Rushing Touchdowns, 61 Catches, 431 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving Touchdown

Championship Win %: 18.6%

Summary: After a slow start to the season, Bijan Robinson scored over 20 points in all but two games since Week 6. He was a workhorse this season amassing 365 touches despite Tyler Allegier having a sizable role within this offense. The changes at quarterback allowed Robinson to jump from 4 touchdowns to 14 in 2024, helping jump up nearly six points per game. The Falcons offense was limited with an immobile Kirk Cousins most of the season, suggesting that Robinson can be even better in 2025 with a full season of Michael Penix Jr.

Derrick Henry RB BAL

Preseason ADP: 18.0

Points Per Game: 19.8

Stats: 325 Carries, 1921 Rushing Yards, 16 Rushing Touchdowns, 19 Catches, 193 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving Touchdowns

Championship Win %: 17.6%

Summary: An offense with Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson was as good as advertised this season with Henry having one of the best seasons of his career in Baltimore. Henry averaged a career-high 5.9 yards per carry this season and had his second-highest rushing yards total of his career despite being 31 years old. I would not be surprised to see Henry have another great season in 2025 if he stays healthy.

Josh Allen QB BUF

Preseason ADP: 24.2

Points Per Game: 22.6

Stats: 3731 Passing Yards, 28 Touchdowns, 6 Interceptions, 531 Rushing Yards, 12 Rushing Touchdowns

Championship Win %: 13.2%

Summary: Josh Allen is Mr. Consistency in fantasy football with five straight seasons over 22 fantasy points. Allen’s rushing upside now with the Bills’ tush push is about as high as it has ever been and has allowed him to rush for 27 touchdowns in the last two years. Allen was not necessarily as dominant as other players on this list this season but had two weeks of 93.2 fantasy points ahead of the playoffs which ultimately changed the course of many fantasy seasons. Allen will be the second quarterback off of the draft boards in 2025.
