Fantasy Rookies You Should and Should Not Draft in 2024

As we inch closer and closer to the fantasy football season, many redrafts are beginning to take place and avid football fans are vying to put themselves in a position to bring home the trophy. A polarizing strategy every season is finding the best rookie flier to take a chance on in the hopes of a high upside breakout. Here we take a look at some rookies that you should look to pick up in your fantasy football drafts, as well as some that you may want to avoid.

Rookies you SHOULD draft:

Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals

Heading into the draft as arguably the best player, the Cardinals got a steal at No. 4 when they picked Marvin Harrison Jr. in April. His size, athleticism, and play-making ability coupled with a healthy Kyler Murray makes him a WR15 candidate right out of the gate. Currently being drafted early in the second round, some may think it’s an overpay; I think it’s a home run.

Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft is walking into a quarterback’s dream with the supporting cast that Ryan Poles has put together on the Bears offense. If any rookie quarterback is going to make it happen this season, look no further than the raw talent that is Caleb Williams. With countless weapons at his disposal, Williams is set for a monster season in his rookie campaign.

Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs

Worthy steps into a championship-caliber team with a three peat in mind. He ran an NFL Combine record 4.21 in the 40-yard dash and has the three-time Super Bowl MVP slinging him the rock. Fantasy managers should be as excited as Chiefs fans are to see how explosive Worthy can truly be on this offense.

Rookies you SHOULD NOT draft:

Malik Nabers, New York Giants

Malik Nabers has an immense amount of raw talent and athleticism that makes him a very palatable pick heading into drafts this season. The biggest question mark with Nabers is his supporting cast. Giants wide receivers have struggled to get it done in recent years when it comes to fantasy production, and I won’t believe it until I see it.

Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders

Rookie tight ends are like diamonds in the rough in Fantasy Football, and it can change the entire landscape of your season when you hit on one (enter Sam LaPorta in 2023). With that being said, although Bowers presents as a great high upside pick at tight end, the quarterback situation in Las Vegas makes it difficult to find a path to fantasy relevance.

Trey Benson, Arizona Cardinals

Trey Benson was the Cardinals fourth pick in the 2024 draft, where they see him fitting their system in the long run. Unfortunately, as of right now Benson is not even fighting for the No. 1 position in the Cardinals depth chart with James Conner looming. Unless an injury or setback riddles Conner’s season, Benson will not get to see enough snaps to make him fantasy relevant in redraft leagues this year.
