Three Boom & Bust Players in Fantasy Football for Week 6

Last week, I took a look at six players that should have been starts in your league. Between Trevor Lawrence, D’Andre Swift, Younghoe Koo, Washington’s Defense, Xavier Worthy and Tucker Kraft, there was an average of 17 points per player. As we enter Week 6, with Thursday Night Football approaching, here are three starts this week and three players to send to your bench.

Boom

Smith enters a TNF game against a San Francisco 49ers team with injury questions. Talanoa Hufanga was placed on IR and Charvarius Ward is questionable, although expected to play. Smith is a high-value play in part due to his immense volume in the last two games, with 96 combined attempts (66 completions) and 679 passing yards. With the emergence of Jaxson Smith-Njigba this season, he has a plethora of weapons to choose from in Seattle. Smith looks to build off of consecutive 22.6-point weeks on Thursday night.

David Montgomery

The Lions backfield will always be a true RB split, but Montgomery has the potential to go ballistic this week. He has yet to be held to single-digit fantasy points this season and currently is averaging 15 points per game. He takes on a Cowboys defense allowing the 5th most points to opposing RBs (21 PPG). With his 18 touches a game expect him to go over 100 total yards this week.

Lamb has been good but not great for many fantasy football teams to start this season. Many were expecting similar results to last season based on where we were drafting Ceedee Lamb this offseason. Lamb is currently averaging 15.3 points per game and will exceed that amount this week against the Lions. The Lions are the 6th worst team in fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers right now, creating the perfect storm for Lamb to have his highest point total of the season in week 6.

Brian Robinson Jr

Robinson has gotten off to a great fantasy start so far in 2024. This week he draws a tough matchup against the Ravens front seven while also not being 100% yet with his knee injury. Robinson had his lowest snap % last week against the Cleveland Browns totaling 7 carries for 18 yards and 2 touchdowns. The 2 touchdowns saved Robinson from being a bust last week and with his knee not fully healed expect him to be in for a dud in week 6.

Dallas Goedert

AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith both look like they are going to return this week against the Browns. The return of both of these guys lowers Goedert’s target share and makes him a low TE1 with them back. The Browns D has allowed just 14 total points to TEs this season. Goedert had just 6 points prior to the bye week at Tampa and has not gotten into the end zone yet this season. Bo Nix

Nix had his best game of the season last week with 23 points against Vegas, but don’t expect it to continue against the Chargers. LA is going to have Derwin James back, as well as possibly Joey Bosa. Nix has dropped 13 or less in 3/5 games and did not throw a passing touchdown until Week 4 in New York. Do not jump the gun and start Bo this week.
