Finding the best guys to fit into your lineup is not always the easiest task when dealing with bye weeks or injuries. Each week we drop three emergency starts that you can fill into your fantasy lineup and avoid a “bust” performance. All the players mentioned are available in 75% or more of Fantasy leagues. Below are three players that can help you win your week in fantasy that are on waivers right now.
Mike Gesicki TE (CIN)
Gesicki has become our favorite streamer of the week, making his way onto the start and sit list despite being owned in less than 25% of leagues. The Bengals will likely be without Tee Higgins against the Raiders this week. Gesicki has been a different player with and without Higgins this season. Without Higgins in the lineup, he is averaging over 10 fantasy points per game, and with Higgins in the lineup, his highest point total was 5. I expect the trend to continue in Week 9, and Gesicki turns in another 10-point outing as the second option in the Bengals’ passing game.
Darius Slayton WR (NYG)
The return of Malik Nabers has led to Slayton being forgotten by many fantasy owners. Despite Nabers return, Slayton had 4 catches for 108 yards on 7 targets turning in another good performance in fantasy. Three of his last four games have been over 11.7 points including a 29.2-point outing against the Seahawks. His 23.3% air yards share is encouraging considering more teams are doubling Nabers, in turn opening up more vertical routes for Slayton. The Commanders offer a good matchup for all three Giants receivers this week and Slayton should be considered a Flex in deeper formats.
Quentin Johnston WR (LAC)
Johnston has not been healthy for the last few weeks dealing with an ankle injury but played the most snaps among Chargers receivers prior to the injury. He finished the last two full games he played with 22.1 and 12.4 points with 3 touchdown catches. In his first week back, the Chargers take on the Browns who are the 6th easiest matchup for opposing wide receivers. With a good matchup, he is the perfect desperation play off of waivers with a high upside but a low floor.
