Finding the best guys to fit into your lineup is not always the easiest task when dealing with bye weeks or injuries. Each week we drop three emergency starts that you can fill into your fantasy lineup and avoid a “bust” performance. All the players mentioned are available in 75% or more of Fantasy leagues. Below are three players that can help you win your week in fantasy that are on waivers right now.
Adonai Mitchell WR (IND)
Mitchell’s best performance came in Week 10 when he played a larger role and recorded six catches on six targets for 71 yards and 13.1 fantasy points. While he has been consistently involved throughout the season, his production has typically been modest, with one or two catches in six of the last seven weeks, except for that standout game against Buffalo. Mitchell leads the team in separation and route win rate against two-high defenses, a scheme the Patriots rely on heavily. Among 94 qualifying NFL receivers, he ranks seventh in separation and fifth in route win rate against two-high coverage. The Patriots present a favorable matchup, allowing the ninth-most fantasy points per game and the tenth-highest fantasy points per target to opposing slot receivers.
Devaughn Vele WR (DEN)
Vele has consistently slotted into the WR2 role for the Broncos in the last couple of weeks ranking second on the team in snaps and routes run over the previous three games. He has failed to score under 10 fantasy points in those three games while hauling in at least four catches in each game. Vele is a 6’5 receiver and is starting to see red zone work with two targets in the red area in the last two games. He has a high ceiling against the Browns this week who are allowing nearly 30 points a game to opposing receivers. Vele is a great emergency starter against a plus matchup against the Browns.
Kimani Vidal RB (LAC)
With J.K. Dobbins landing on IR, the Chargers’ running back situation turns to Gus Edwards, Kimani Vidal, and Hassaan Haskins. Edwards will likely take most of the early down work but has been rarely utilized on third down this season. Chargers’ offensive coordinator Greg Roman mentioned that Vidal has experience in these situations and could see an increased workload suggesting he could be the one to fill in on the passing situations. In Week 6, while Edwards was sidelined, Vidal caught a 38-yard touchdown but has only accumulated 44 yards on 18 carries (2.4 YPC) on the ground. Running backs have recorded at least six receptions in four consecutive games, which could make Vidal a more appealing option if he gets involved in the passing game.
