Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 12: Nix, Hill, and Richardson Top Priorities

MNF reactions 1

With Week 11 officially in the books, there are more names you need to know on this week’s waiver wire. You may be dealing with injuries, bye weeks, or just need to cycle players out on your bench. Whatever it is, the waiver wire is there to help. Let’s take a look at some of the best players that should be added this week on waivers.

Top Priority Waiver Wire Pickups (If Available)

Bo Nix QB (DEN)

52% Rostered

Nix has been on fire lately, with four performances over 20 points and no performances under 14 points in his last seven games. Against the Falcons, he finished with a career-high in both passing yards (307) and passing touchdowns (4), continuing his upward trend on the field. He currently ranks as the QB7 on the season and will continue his hot play against the Raiders, who are the 8th easiest matchup for quarterbacks. Bo Nix needs to be rostered in all leagues.

Taysom Hill TE (NO)

46% Rostered

Taysom Hill was the MVP of Week 11 after his 40-point performance against the Browns. Taysom Hill has always been a wild card in lineups with the ability to vulture goal-line touchdowns from Alvin Kamara. On Sunday he had a career day with 138 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns while hauling in 8 passes for 50 yards on 10 targets. He played 8 snaps at quarterback, 6 snaps at running back, and 18 snaps lined up at receiver. With the injuries at receiver, Hill has a higher floor than ever in fantasy football.

Anthony Richardson QB (IND)

60% Rostered

Richardson returned to the lineup and had his best game of the season. The 2nd year quarterback had a career-high in passing yards (272) while earning an 80.3 passing grade from PFF. Richardson’s accuracy was much improved this week as he completed 67% of his passes allowing the Colts offense to get in a rhythm. On the goal line, Shane Steichen utilized Richardson as a runner which led to two rushing touchdowns. The upside many were talking about in the off-season was on full display last week. Richardson is worth stashing on your bench to see if this is a trend of better play down the stretch.

Worthy Waiver Wire Pickups

Will Dissly TE (LAC)

15% Rostered

Dissly continues to carve out a valuable role in the Chargers’ passing game with at least 5 targets in every game over the last six weeks. This weekend he hauled in 4 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown cashing in on his favorable matchup. Dissly is a borderline TE1 right now and is a matchup-dependent starter. Be cautious of his 50% snap share due to his poor run-blocking skills which lowers his weekly floor. The Chargers have tough matchups against the Ravens, Chiefs, and Broncos ahead that will lead to Dissly on the field more often without a positive game script. Ahead of the Ravens matchup, Dissly is worth the waiver wire addition.

Elijah Moore WR (CLE)

12% Rostered

Moore was listed as an emergency streamer due to his good matchup against the Saints. Moore capitalized on the matchup finishing with 6 catches for 66 yards and a touchdown on 8 targets resulting in a season-high 18.6 points. Compared to Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman, Moore is the WR3 in the offense in terms of snap share but holds over a 20% target share with Jameis Winston at quarterback. The Browns will continue to air it out with a struggling ground game making Moore worth the waiver wire add ahead of Week 12.

Ameer Abdullah RB (LV)

0% Rostered

Abdullah will be a hot waiver wire pickup due to the injuries to Zamir White (quad) and Alexander Mattison (ankle) in Week 11. Both Running backs have zero updates on their availability for Week 12 at the moment which would allow Abdullah to slot in as the RB1 in Las Vegas. Abdullah has two performances over 10 points this season with his pass-catching abilities out of the backfield. As good as the Broncos have been this season, they have allowed running backs to average 5.8 catches and 43.8 receiving yards per game against them. Abdullah is an RB3 if Mattison and White don’t play in Week 12 providing an option for teams with bye week troubles.

Roschon Johnson RB (CHI)

12% Rostered

The Bears’ usage shifted with the firing of Shane Waldron, resulting in an increased role for Johnson. He tied his season high in carries while also finding his way into the end zone to reach over 10 fantasy points for the third time this season. Looking at the Usage rates, Johnson was utilized more than Swift on short yardage, third downs, and two-minute drill snaps while tying Swift in goal-line carries. If this trend continues, Johnson could be a viable option in fantasy due to the valuable snaps he has carved out in the new-look Bears offense. Pick him up and stash him to see if the usage continues in Week 12.

Washington Commanders DEF

29% Rostered

We are getting to that point in the season where defensive streaming options are becoming one of the most valuable claims every week. The Commanders are my favorite defensive streamer this week who is owned in less than 50% of leagues. Against the Cowboys, the Commanders should be in for a bounce-back performance after scoring -1 points last week. In the last two weeks since Cooper Rush took over as the starting quarterback, opposing defenses have combined for 37 fantasy points, 8 sacks, 5 fumbles, 2 interceptions, and 1 touchdown. I am confident that the Commanders will be able to get 10 fantasy points against the Cowboys this week.
