Top Priority Waiver Wire Pickups (If Available)
Jerome Ford RB (CLE)
54% Rostered
With Nick Chubb sidelined for the season due to a broken foot, Jerome Ford steps into a more prominent role as the primary running back for the Browns. Ford showed what he’s capable of in Week 15, rushing for 84 yards while finishing with 18.4 fantasy points against a tough Chiefs defense. Earlier this season, when filling in for Chubb, Ford posted two games with over 15 fantasy points, proving he can be productive in an expanded role. The biggest concern is D’Onta Foreman potentially eating into his early down work. The increased role makes him a solid flex option against a struggling Bengals defense in Week 16.
Keandre Miller RB (NO)
11% Rostered
Keandre Miller is a must-add in the wake of Alvin Kamara’s groin injury, which could force the veteran back to miss time. If Kamara sits out, Miller will likely take over as the Saints’ lead back, and his performance against the Commanders (9 carries for 46 yards) showed he can provide solid value with an increased role. Miller is not the dual threat that Kamara is but will be in line for many dump downs against the Packers as the current spread is 13.5 for Green Bay. Additionally, New Orleans will face the Packers in Week 16, a defense that ranks 19th in the NFL against running backs, making Miller an intriguing option for RB-needy fantasy managers, especially if Kamara is ruled out.
Worthy Waiver Wire Pickups
Brenton Strange TE (JAX)
10% Rostered
With Evan Engram now out for the rest of the season, Brenton Strange is stepping up as the top tight end in Jacksonville. In Week 15, Strange finished with 12 targets and 11 receptions, leading all tight ends in fantasy points for the week. The second-year player has been a solid contributor when Engram hasn’t been on the field, averaging 6 targets and 10.9 fantasy points per game in those contests. Next up, Strange faces a Raiders defense that has struggled against tight ends, allowing the third-most fantasy points to the position. While it’s unlikely he will maintain his Week 15 pace, Strange has the potential to remain a consistent 10-point performer in PPR leagues.
Romeo Doubs WR (GB)
45% Rostered
After missing two weeks due to a concussion, Romeo Doubs returned with a vengeance in Week 15, catching two touchdowns and totaling 40 yards. The Packers’ wide receiver corps has been unpredictable this season, but Doubs is gaining traction with solid performances in recent weeks. Since his suspension ended in Week 6, Doubs has emerged as the top target for Jordan Love, leading the team in target share and first-read opportunities. With favorable matchups against the Saints, Vikings, and Bears in the next three weeks, Doubs is in an excellent position to continue contributing. If you need a wide receiver for your playoff push, Doubs could be a valuable addition.
Jalen McMillan WR (TB)
11% Rostered
Jalen McMillan is starting to carve out a sizable role in the Buccaneers offense with a 23% target share in his last two games. During that stretch, he has had two performances over 18 points while averaging 67 receiving yards and hauling in 3 touchdowns. McMillan has been a primary downfield target this season with an average depth of target of 12.4 which could mean bigger weeks are ahead with an increased target ahead. In the next two weeks, he has elite matchups with the Cowboys and Saints who rank in the bottom ten in points allowed to wide receivers this season. McMillan is a solid flex play over the next two weeks and a worthy waiver wire pickup.
Kimani Vidal RB (LAC)
32% Rostered
Kimani Vidal has fully overtaken the Chargers backfield after slowly increasing his role in the last few weeks. After J.K. Dobbins went on injured reserve, Vidal emerged as the primary receiving back, and this week, he saw most of the Chargers’ early down snaps. Despite the increased workload, he had limited production, rushing three times for nine yards and catching two passes for 13 yards. Vidal could be a strong fantasy option at flex in the next two weeks against the Broncos who struggle against receiving backs and the Patriots who allow an average of 23.6 points per game to running backs this season.
Tyjae Spears RB (TEN)
51% Rostered
When healthy, Tyjae Spears has operated as the RB2 alongside Tony Pollard playing an inconsistent role within the Titans’ offense. This week he had a larger workload due to Tony Pollard reinjuring his ankle resulting in 27.2 fantasy points. Spears had 6 catches for 87 yards while having only 5 rushing yards and added two touchdowns. He is an intriguing pickup this week due to the potential of Pollard being limited or missing this week’s game due to injury. With the Titans already out of the playoff race, I am not sure why they would risk Pollard suffering a bigger injury. The Titans also have a favorable matchup against the Colts who are allowing an average of 24.3 points per game to running backs which ranks 27th in the NFL making Spears a solid flex option.
Green Bay Packers DEF
46% Rostered
The Packers’ defense is starting to heat up as of late averaging 9.3 points per game in their last four games while adding 13 sacks in their last three games. Overall, this season, the Packers come in as the 5th ranked defense and have an elite matchup this week against the Saints. The Saints will likely be without their quarterback, top wide receivers, top running back, and top lineman in Week 16. The Packers have cashed in on favorable matchups in the past and I fully expect them to reach 10+ points this week.
