Welcome back to the injury report where we break down all of the latest injuries from the week prior. I will provide an update on the player’s injury and discuss how the injury impacts output long-term in fantasy football. Let’s take a look at all of the injury headlines from this weekend.
Dalton Kincaid
Bills rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid exited Week 10’s victory over the Colts with a knee injury after recording 2 catches for 24 yards. Head coach Sean McDermott offered no definitive timeline, stating they will monitor Kincaid’s condition over the coming days.
His potential absence is significant given his 22% target share in the Bills’ passing attack. If Kincaid cannot play, veterans Quinton Morris and Dawson Knox will likely split tight end duties, with Knox’s 11% red zone target rate and one touchdown this season suggesting he could see increased opportunities.
Fantasy managers should prepare alternative options while monitoring Kincaid’s status leading up to game time. The Bills’ remaining pass-catching options include Amari Cooper, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuel.
Miles Sanders
Panthers’ Miles Sanders’ challenging season faces another setback as he seeks specialist evaluation for a knee/foot injury sustained during Week 10’s overtime win against the Giants.
Before exiting, Sanders managed just five yards on two carries, adding to an underwhelming 2023 campaign where he’s tallied only 139 rushing yards and one touchdown on 38 carries (3.7 YPC), plus 21 receptions for 98 yards through 10 games.
Head coach Dave Canales has provided limited details about the injury, though the Week 11 bye offers additional recovery time. The backfield hierarchy appears clear with Chuba Hubbard commanding 70% of touches, while rookie Jonathon Brooks’ return from injury further complicates Sanders’ overall future outlook.
Fantasy managers should consider Hubbard the primary option, with Raheem Blackshear serving as the depth piece in Carolina’s running game.
Sam Laporta
Lions tight end Sam LaPorta sustained an AC joint sprain in his shoulder during Sunday night’s victory over the Texans, occurring after a crucial third-quarter catch that set up a David Montgomery touchdown.
Head coach Dan Campbell has labeled LaPorta as day-to-day, expressing optimism about the injury’s timeline. “This is not, ‘He’s going to be out four weeks,'” Campbell stated, though he acknowledged LaPorta might miss Week 11.
The injury comes as LaPorta was building momentum, having scored touchdowns in three of the last five games.
Fantasy managers should monitor his status, with Detroit’s passing game offering alternative options in Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Jameson Williams, who collectively command 10-25% of team targets.
Backup tight end Brock Wright, who has shown efficiency with 4 catches on 4 targets and a red zone touchdown against the Titans, could see increased opportunities if LaPorta misses time.
Tank Bigsby
Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby aggravated a pre-existing ankle injury in Week 10’s matchup against the Vikings, exiting briefly after a three-yard carry in the first quarter.
Though he returned to the game, his impact was limited to just four yards on two carries while playing only 10 of 44 offensive snaps. Before the injury, Bigsby had been making a strong case for increased playing time, ranking first among qualified running backs in yards after contact per attempt (4.40) and third in explosive run rate (12.9%).
He had also posted two 100-yard performances with two touchdowns each in his previous five games. The injury situation complicates Jacksonville’s backfield rotation, where Travis Etienne (30 snaps, 11 carries, 44 yards in Week 10) remains the primary option.
With quarterback Trevor Lawrence potentially sidelined, fantasy managers should monitor Bigsby’s status while considering Etienne the more reliable (less efficient) option in what could become a run-heavy offense.
Dak Prescott
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was recently sidelined indefinitely after suffering a hamstring injury in the team’s Week 9 loss to the Falcons. The injury was initially diagnosed as a partial tendon avulsion, a more severe tear where the hamstring partially pulls away from the bone. Prescott flew to New York on Monday to consult a specialist, with the options being rest/rehab for around 4-6 weeks or surgery that would sideline him for approximately 3 months.
Prescott has elected to undergo the season-ending surgery.
In Prescott’s absence, the Cowboys have elevated Cooper Rush to QB1, with Trey Lance serving as the backup. Through five games this season, Rush has posted a 56% completion rate with one touchdown pass. However, his performance has been underwhelming, evidenced by his 45 passing yards in a loss to the Eagles—the fewest by a Dallas starter since 2015.
The Cowboys’ offense has struggled without Prescott. While Rush and Lance have some upside, neither inspire much confidence.
Fantasy players invested in the Dallas passing attack must be equally invested in Cooper Rush for the remainder of the season.
