Is Jack Tuttle the Answer at QB for Michigan?

Replacing Davis Warren, Alex Orji started under center for the Wolverines this past weekend. Michigan picked up its biggest win of the season, taking down a ranked USC team. Despite this win, Michigan’s Quarterback struggles continued, leading to questions as to whether another change could be made.

Jack Tuttle has years of experience, but not much starting. He was extremely effective coming in for JJ McCarthy last season, completing 15/17 of his passes for an average of 7.6 yards per attempt. He even threw one touchdown pass as well.

Perhaps the biggest question mark here isn’t IF Tuttle is the answer at QB, but if he will even get his shot. The coaching staff has seemed reluctant thus far to make any changes to the starting lineup unless it is absolutely mandatory.

We all saw Michigan’s QB struggles last week. Orji went for a total of 33 yards and was quite frankly a non-factor. You may have a different opinion, but I’d take 200+ yards and three interceptions over just 33 any day.

The worst part about Tuttle starting would be the fact that he is a Sixth-Year senior. Any progress he makes this season will be wiped away, whether to graduation (or the NFL Draft.)

There may never be an answer to this question, as Tuttle may never see the field. But as his return from Pre-Season injury inches closer, this team may be ready to take the next step forward with him at the helm.
