J-ET-S: New York Jets Season Preview

The Jets have been developing youth for years, and now look to capitalize with a legend under center.

Heading into 2023, the New York Jets felt they were poised for a big time season in the AFC East. With 4-Time MVP Quarterback Aaron Rodgers new to the Big Apple, the team was looking to challenge the Kansas City Chiefs.

Unfortunately, one drive into the season, Rodgers injured his Achilles, putting Zach Wilson back in the saddle. The results were less than ideal, and the Jets, despite having the league’s 3rd best DVOA defense, went 7-10, finishing third in the AFC East. Now, with some new faces and Aaron Rodgers assumedly ready to go, 2024 is the year the Jets hope to claim their first Lombardi in 56 years. With another year of Garrett Wilson, finally having a legit QB, the sky is the limit.

Schedule

The Jets face off 8 times in 2024 against playoff teams from 2023, including 4 against division rivals Miami and Buffalo. After Week One against the reigning NFC Champion 49ers, the Jets take on 4 straight teams that did not make the postseason in 2023, setting them up for a possible hot start.

Final Record: 12-5 (1st in AFC East)

The Jets look to be one of the AFC’s biggest contenders in 2024, with an elite defense now joined with what should be a top 1/3 Offense in the league. Ultimately, I’d pin the Jets behind the Chiefs, Ravens and Texans in the AFC. With Rodgers questionable playoff history, it will be interesting to see how things translate in January. As the clock winds down, the polarizing signal caller will seek his second Lombardi in what has been an illustrious career.
