NFL Fantasy Football: Week 6 Boom and Bust Players

Week 6 of the NFL and fantasy football season is behind us and as usual, it did not disappoint. Several solid fantasy starters came up with duds on the stat sheet from leaving games early due to injury. Chris Olave caught one pass for 5 yards, fumbled, and then left the game to finish with -1.0 points for the day. Travis Etienne, Jordan Mason, and Dallas Goedert also left their contest early and ended with disappointing point totals.

All point totals came from FanDuel‘s standard scoring, which uses .5 PPR. Below you will find the players who finished their games and either had a surprising outburst of production or fell flat on their face, and most likely cost you your fantasy matchup.

BOOM

Caleb Williams CHI QB 28.64 Points

The Bears have been heating up lately, mostly due to the rapid improvement of their #1 overall pick. Williams put on a show in London Sunday Morning throwing for 226 yards and 4 TDs. He also added an impressive 56 yards on the ground. The Bears are on a bye in week 7 but return to face weak pass defenses in WAS and ARI for weeks 8 and 9. Caleb Williams is a solid QB1 at this point in the season.

Mark Andrews BAL TE 14.1 Points

If you started Mark Andrews in week 6, your patience is much better than mine. He had all but disappeared from the Ravens passing attack until he showed life in week 5 with 4 catches for 55 yards. This week, he was part of the plan again and found the end zone for the first time this season. Andrews’ owners can only hope that his 3/55/1TD stat line is a sign of things to come.

Chris Godwin TB WR 33.0 Points

The Buccaneers offense had a field day against the Saints where just about everyone got a piece. Chris Godwin got much more than just a piece though. He caught 11 of 13 targets for 125 yards and 2 TDS. He finished the week as WR1 and is a high-end WR2 who must be in your lineup every week.

BUST

Mike Evans TB WR 4.4 Points

While Evans’ counterpart Chris Godwin was getting all the points, Evans was getting all the attention from the defense. Saints #1 corner Marshon Lattimore and Evans have a history of tough battles (and fights) when facing one another. Lattimore has gotten the best of the rivalry lately as Evans hasn’t scored a TD against the Saints since 2021. He was held to just 2 catches on 6 targets for 34 yards on Sunday. He should remain in your lineup as a WR1 as he already has 5 TDs this season.

Dak Prescott DAL QB 5.22 Points

We did not get the shootout we expected in the Cowboys vs Lions game, and it hurt nobody more than Dak Prescott owners. He scored no touchdowns and threw for under 200 yards, adding 2 interceptions. Despite the Cowboys’ woes, Prescott has been a respectable QB1 thus far in 2024. This should be an anomaly; Prescott will re-enter my lineup after his week 7 bye.

Tucker Kraft GB TE 2.5 Points

Our collective desperation for TE production had us all riding high on Tucker Kraft’s breakout performance in week 5. We quickly forgot that Kraft is just one of Jordan Love’s many weapons he has at his disposal. Kraft caught 2 of just 4 targets for 13 yards. He’ll likely be an all or nothing player throughout the season, but in this fantasy TE market, he’s still a low-end TE1.
