NFL Week 10 Boom and Bust Fantasy Players

Below are some of the trending boom and bust fantasy players plus analysis from week 10 in the NFL. Players who had poor fantasy output due to injury are not listed. All point totals are from FanDuel Fantasy.

Boom

Ricky Pearsall SF WR 15.3 Points

The 49ers offense is finally at full strength (minus Brandon Aiyuk) and 2024 first-round pick Ricky Pearsall seems to be heavily involved. He caught 4 of 6 targets for 73 yards and a TD. His production has increased each week since returning from injured reserve.

He is only rostered in 25% of ESPN leagues but should be picked up if he’s available. He’ll likely be TD-dependent but could be used as a flex starter.

TJ Hockenson MIN TE 11.2 Points

Hockenson returned from IR last week and got his first action of the 2024 season. He was worked in on a limited snap count last week but received a full share of starting snaps in week 10

He hauled in 8 of 9 targets for 72 yards, matching Justin Jefferson’s target share. Hockenson is a high-end TE1 for the rest of the season.

Patriots DST 16 Points

The woefully bad Bears‘ offense was no match for the Patriots’ defense on Sunday. New England held them to just 3 points and sacked Caleb Williams NINE times.

The Patriots defense has not been very good this year, hence being rostered in only 6.7% of ESPN leagues. The lesson here isn’t to go get the Patriots’ defense but to start the Bears’ opposing DEF.

With upcoming opponents like Green Bay, Minnesota, Detroit, and San Fransisco, the road won’t get any easier for Caleb Williams and company.

Bust

Mike Gesicki CIN TE 5 Points

With Tee Higgins out, Mike Gesicki’s production had received a boost – until week 10. He was targeted a respectable 9 times but caught only 4 of them for 30 yards.

Higgins may return to the lineup in week 11, which should push Gesicki back to your bench. If you carry 2 tight ends, he’s worth the spot on your roster. But, he’s no better than a streaming option at this point.

Giants DEF 4 Points

Giants defense was a popular streaming option in week 10 and for good reason. They faced the awful Panthers who have failed to score 20 points in 5 of their games this season. The Giants managed only 1 sack and 1 turnover in the OT loss against the Panthers.

New York goes on a bye for week 11 and faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 12. There’s no reason to keep them around on your roster.

Aaron Rodgers (and his receivers) NYJ QB 4.04 Points

The Jets offense appeared to be heating up, with Rodgers throwing multiple TDs in 4 of his last 5 games. It came to a screeching halt in week 10 against the Cardinals.

Rodgers managed just 151 passing yards with a fumble lost – no TDs scored. Owners of his receivers suffered as well. Garrett Wilson finished with 6.6 points while Davante Adams had just 6.1.

Wilson and Adams are must-starts every week, but Rodgers is a risky start as this Jets team is so up and down week to week.
