Predictions for Week 3 of the College Football Season

This season has already been one of the most chaotic in College Football history. From Georgia’s blowout of Clemson to Northern Illinois’ upset of Notre Dame, predicting what will happen each week is a poor man’s game. Nevertheless, we’ll give our picks only to be ridiculed the following week.

#20 Arizona @ #14 Kansas State

Odds: KSU – 7

O/U: 60.5

This is a matchup between two programs on a roll. Arizona and KSU are 9-1 combined in their last ten games, setting up a match that will have playoff implications. The Wildcats have developed a potent passing game through two weeks, led by Quarterback Noah Fifita. Quali Conley has done far more than enough on the ground, surpassing 200+ yards and he’s been in the endzone thrice thus far.

As for Kansas State, the departure of Will Howard has resulted in a less-than-ideal offense. Perhaps what’s most interesting though is that KSU’s leading WR is averaging just 44 yards a game. To compete in the revamped Big XII, a historically pass heavy conference, the Wildcats will have to become more explosive, especially with a defense giving up 27 points to Tulane.

Give me the Wildcats to remain undefeated 😉

Pick: Arizona +7, U/60.5

#4 Alabama @ Wisconsin

Odds: Alabama -16

O/U: 49.5

You would have to be a fool to ever bet against the Tide when Nick Saban was at the helm.

But Nick Saban is retired, isn’t he?

Look, I’m not confident whatsoever in this prediction, nor am I picking Wisconsin to win outright. But I do think with this being a college football game on the road, close to a thousand miles away from Tuscaloosa, this game will be closer than many expect. Of course, with the talent Alabama possesses, this easily could turn into another blowout, much like the USF game last week. Alabama does Alabama things.

What it will take for Wisconsin to stay competitive in this game, let alone win, is letting Tyler Van Dyke have the reigns of this offense. Although he’s been anything but a game manager, it seems as if Luke Fickell is holding the talented young passer back, with only 406 yards through the air and one score thus far. Let the kid play and this game will go down to the wire.

Pick: Wisconsin +16, O/49.5

#1 Georgia @ Kentucky

Odds: Georgia -22

O/U: 45

One of the main key takeaways from this game is if Georgia will continue its trend of struggling against weaker SEC opponents. You would think after dominating Clemson and a lowly FCS team, the Bulldogs would be warmed up.

Kentucky seems better than advertised, despite dropping the ball against South Carolina. I have my doubts as to if the Wildcats can keep it close this week. QB Vandagriff will have to up his stats, having nearly a 50% completion rate and a 3:2 TD:INT ratio.

Pick: Georgia -22, O/45
