Team Situations

Week 1 of the NFL season is fast approaching and one of the more interesting matchups during week 1 is Seahawks against Broncos. Broncos come into week 1 banking on the hopeful success of rookie quarterback Bo Nix. Nix showed flashes of greatness in the preseason winning the starting quarterback job over his fellow signal callers, Zach Wilson and Jarret Stidham. For the opposing side, Seattle is going into week 1 entering a new regime under head coach Mike Macdonald. The past couple years the Seahawks have been mediocre at best and are attempting to enter a new chapter in Seahawks football after the departure of former head coach Pete Carrol. Broncos are moving on and looking to turn the chapter with Bo Nix after a dreadful previous season that started with high hopes with Russel Wilson leading the team.

Matchup On Both Sides of The Football

There are a bunch of good matchups in this game. We will most likely see Pat Surtain line up against DK Metcalf, which is a very intriguing matchup that will most likely go back and forth all game. DK is coming off another 1000 yard season and can make history this upcoming season. If Metcalf reaches 900 receiving yards and 5 TDs he will join Randy Moss in greatness as the second wide receiver to ever do this in their first 6 seasons in the NFL.

On the other side of this matchup Surtain is coming off another campaign of greatness and is widely considered one of if not the best cornerback in the league. Another interesting matchup in this game is Bo Nix against the Seattle defensive line. It will be Nix’s first NFL game and it will be compelling to see how he navigates in the pocket and through pressure. It will also be interesting to watch the Seahawks defensive line. They will have a new look defense under head coach Mike Macdonald and with the addition of Byron Murphy in the NFL draft this Seahawks defensive line will most likely have the opportunity to seriously disrupt Bo Nix in his first career game.

Finally, the last intriguing matchup in this game is the Denver receivers up against the stacked Seattle secondary. Denver’s receiving core consists of players like Courtland Sutton, Josh Reynolds, and Marvin Mims Jr. while Seattle’s is spearheaded with 2 very worthy cornerbacks, Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon. Lead receiver for the Broncos Courtland Sutton is coming off a solid 2023 season where he had upward of 750 receiving yards with 10 touchdowns.

Sutton will most likely match up against Seahawks corner Riq Woolen. Woolen is coming off a 2023 season where many people viewed it as a down season, but it will be very interesting to see how he performs in his first game under his new head coach. Besides this matchup it will be interesting to see how Devon Witherspoon performs with a pretty favorable matchup. It will also be very interesting to see how the Hawks safety’s play with the new addition of Rayshawn Jenkins and K’Von Wallace in the off-season.

My Prediction

This game will be very interesting and could honestly go either way. Seattle is entering the 2024 with a completely new coaching staff while Denver is entering the season with a rookie quarterback behind center. I think this game will be a low scoring close game with Denver keeping it within distance with Seattle throughout the game. Ultimately I do think Seattle obtains the victory 21-12. I think Seattle wins because they are simply a more talented roster and I believe their defense along with the Lumen Field crowd will give Bo Nix a lot of trouble in his first start.
