Best Waiver Wire Pickups in Week 6 in Fantasy Football

With week 5 officially in the books, we saw the highest-scoring week of the 2024 NFL season while being able to watch 15 hours of football on Sunday! This week’s waiver claims are not as promising as last weeks, but there are still a plethora of options to choose from to help improve your roster. Let’s take a look at some of the best waiver claims ahead of week 6.

Tank Bigsby RB (JAX)

Bisby is the most notable waiver wire pickup in week 6 after his performance against the Colts. Bisby finished with 13 carries for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding a reception for 28 yards in the win. In the last two weeks, Bigsby’s name has been trending up in the fantasy community. Despite him earning a higher snap share % in week 5, Doug Pederson plans on sticking with Travis Etienne Jr. as the team’s lead back. Even with Pederson’s comments, I am willing to bet on a guy that ranks 1st in the league yards per attempt (Min 10 touches) to earn more touches. Bigsby is worth the waiver wire add this week.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. RB (NYG)

In the absence of Devin Singletary, Tracy logged 62% of snaps for the Giants and finished with 129 rushing yards on 18 attempts. In his senior season at Purdue, Tracy forced 46 missed tackles while having a 133.80 elusive grade. Two of my concerns for him long term are the likely return of Singletary in week 6 and his lack of receiving upside in Brian Dabol’s offense. Tracy is still a good player to add this week considering his abilities as a rusher.

Josh Downs WR (IND)

Since Joe Flacco got thrust into the quarterback position for the Colts, all of their receiving options have been better in fantasy football. In the last two weeks Downs has 17 catches for 151 yards and a touchdown on 21 targets. During both of those games, he has earned grades of 90.5 and 74.5 according to PFF with him also having the #1 route win rate among NFL wide receivers in the last three weeks. Downs is a good football player and with Flacco at QB, he seems like a guy you need to start weekly. With Richardson at QB, he is still worth the waiver add.

Ty Chandler RB (MIN)

For the last two weeks, Aaron Jones was unable to finish the game due to injuries leading to Ty Chandler taking over as the RB1 in Minnesota. Since Sunday, we have not gotten a clear confirmation from the MRI of the extent of Jones injury. Below I attached a tweet from Jesse Morse a fantasy football doctor who gives his take on Jones timeline. With Jones spotty injury history, it is imperative to add Ty Chandler. Chandler has struggled with efficiency this season (3.5 yards per attempt) in his limited touches but will be in line for a 60%+ snap share if Jones misses time.

Roschon Johnson RB (CHI)

D’Andre Swift’s recent play has slowed down the Roschon Johnson hype train, but he still needs to be rostered in all leagues. The last three weeks Johnson has more carries than D’Andre Swift inside the 5-yard line which has allowed him to score 3 touchdowns during that stretch. Currently, the snaps are split 67% to Swift and 31% to Johnson with Khalil Herbert only earning 4% of snaps. With the valuable touches in the red zone and his increase in snap share so far this season, he is a great stash in all formats.

Daniel Jones QB (NYG)

Jones is currently off to a solid start to his 2024 campaign, averaging 19 points in fantasy the last 4 weeks. He has one of the higher floors in fantasy right now at the QB position and is a sneaky play when your QB is on a bye week or has a bad matchup. Jones currently ranks 4th in passing attempts this season while also ranking 5th in rushing attempts among quarterbacks. The volume is there for Jones to produce 20+ point weeks in fantasy and the return of Malik Nabers this week will only help.

Juju Smith-Schuster WR (KC)

I mentioned Juju was going to be the guy inserted into Rashee Rice’s role after his injury. I was expecting him to get 3-4 catches a game, instead on Monday night he finished with 7 catches for 130 yards on 8 targets. He earned himself an 82.7 grade last night from PFF while leading all wide receivers with a 67% snap share. Defenses are going to continue to try and take away Travis Kelce leaving the middle of the field open for Juju going forward. I don’t expect him to produce like this every week, but he will be a flex play going forward in PPR leagues.
