Week 14 Boom and Bust Fantasy Players

Week 14 and the end of most fantasy football regular seasons did not disappoint. FIVE players went over 30 points, which likely secured you a win to fortify your position in the playoffs or play spoiler against opposing playoff-hopeful foes.

Not all players finished the season with a bang though. Let’s look below at some of week 14’s boom and bust players. All points totals are from FanDuel Fantasy.

If you started Sam Darnold, Justin Jefferson, or Jordan Addison – you likely won your fantasy matchup. Darnold finished 22/28 for 347 yards and 5 TDs for 34.58 points. All 5 of his TDs were caught by wide receivers, Jefferson and Addison.

Addison led the way with 35.3 points from 8 catches for 133 yards and 3 TDs. Jefferson wasn’t far off with 28.7 points from 7 catches for 132 yards and 2 TDs.

Aaron Jones also had a respectable start with 15.4 points while TJ Hockenson’s was less impressive finishing with 6.5 points.

All these Minnesota Vikings players should be in your lineups heading into the playoffs. This offense has shown it can explode at any time.

Isaac Guerendo SF RB 25.8 Points

After injuries to Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason, Isaac Guerendo became the hottest late-season waiver wire add in recent memory. He did not disappoint.

He compiled 25.8 points on 15 carries for 78 yards and 2 TDs. He also added 2 catches for 50 yards.

Guerendo exited the game in the 4th quarter with a foot sprain. He’ll need to be monitored heading into week 15, but if he’s healthy – he’s a must start.

Josh Allen BUF QB 51.88 Points

Allen turned in one of the best fantasy performances of the season in his heroic shootout with the Los Angeles Rams. Albeit in a loss, Allen managed SIX total TDs as he took over the potential Game of the Year.

His final stat line of 22/37, 342 Yards, 3 TDs passing amounts to 25.68 points alone which is good enough for QB4 in week 14. That’s without his points as a runner. Allen ran for 82 yards and 3 TDs adding another 26.2 points for a total of 51.88 on the day.

Allen’s ground total alone would have put him at RB2. Which brings us to our first bust of week 14..

Bust

James Cook BUF RB 3.9 Points

Cook’s abysmal week 14 was his worst outing of the season, thanks in part to his MVP front-running QB. Josh Allen’s 3 rushing TDs all came from 1 yard out – clearly leaching them from James Cook.

James Cook finished with 20 yards on 6 carries and caught 2 passes for 9 yards.

Cook is listed as RB1 on the Bills depth chart, but his usage has been inconsistent throughout the season. Josh Allen appears to be back to playing hero ball (very effectively), which hurts Cook’s reliability.

DK Metcalf SEA WR 6.9 Points

Metcalf was primed for a big season under new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb’s aggressive downfield offense. After a hot start, Metcalf was sidelined by injury and ever since returning appears to be second-fiddle to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

In week 14, Metcalf was targeted only 6 times. He caught 4 of them for 49 yards. His 6.9 points was his lowest since week 6. He’s sure to have bigger games going forward, but its clear that the WR to own in Seattle is JSN.

AJ Brown PHI WR 6.3 Points

The Philly favorite has had to take a backseat to the success of Saquon Barkley this season and its beginning to show. AJ Brown caught all 4 of his targets on Sunday for 43 yards in a win against Carolina, though you would never be able to tell from his comments..

Your fantasy owners sympathize with you AJ. 6.3 points is not going to get us to the playoffs or through them.
