With week 16 behind us, we’re in the thick of the fantasy football playoffs. Some have already played their championships, but many are heading into their title games in week 17.
Many players got us to this point. Below, I’ll spotlight some of them that helped carry us to the next round, along with some who were no help at all.
All scoring totals are from FanDuel Fantasy.
Boom
Jayden Daniels WAS QB 36.42
A popular mid to late-round pick, Jayden Daniels’ entire rookie season has been one giant boom. On Sunday, he kept it going with his best outing yet and did it against the Eagles’ defense, which is one of the league’s best.
Daniels completed 24/39 passes for 258 yards and FIVE touchdowns. He did throw 2 interceptions but added 81 yards on the ground. In just his first season, Daniels has already shown he’ll be a fantasy superstar for years to come.
Jonathon Taylor IND RB 39.8 Points
JT had fallen out of fantasy favor after recording just 3 double-digit fantasy games since returning from injury in week 8. On Sunday, Taylor made up for lost production with a 218-yard rushing day where he found the end zone 3 times.
This game alone should raise Taylor’s stock going into next seasons fantasy drafts.
Justin Jefferson MIN WR 31.4 Points
Jefferson was the first wide receiver off the board in most fantasy drafts and deservingly so. Your best players should show up in the biggest games and JJ did not disappoint.
He caught 10 of 13 targets for 144 yards and 2 TDs on his way to a fantasy playoff victory for many.
Bust
Josh Allen BUF QB 12.16 Points
The consensus front-runner for NFL MVP looked like anything but on Sunday. Allen just was not himself completing only 16 of 29 passes for 154 yards. He threw just one TD and managed just 30 yards on the ground.
It was an ill-timed stinker for Allen, who cost many managers who’s teams were carried by him all season long.
Brian Robinson Jr. WAS RB 1.1 Points
Jayden Daniels stole the show for the Commanders and nobody suffered more for it than Brian Robinson Jr. (and maybe the Eagles defense).
Playing from behind for the entire game, Robinson touched the ball just 12 times for 41 total yards. By far his worst showing of the season – it only gets worse as he fumbled the ball TWO times. Robinson has been one of the most consistent backs this season when healthy. He’ll look to continue that next week against Atlanta.
Kyle Pitts ATL TE 1.2 Points
If he hadn’t already, Kyle Pitts put the nail in the coffin that he is the most disappointing fantasy player we have seen in some time. For a player with his unworldly physical talent, he should at least be a consistent fantasy tight end.
Year after year he’s drafted in hopes that “this is the year” that he’ll finally put it together.
Not only did he only catch 1 ball for 7 yards on Sunday, but he dramatically dropped a ball right into the defender’s hands for one of the most pathetic interceptions you will ever see.
I’ll just save myself the maddening Kyle Pitts rollercoaster going forward. He’s reached un-draftable territory for me.
