Week 5 Fantasy Football Streamers at Each Position

With too many injuries to count and bye weeks starting to hit, everyone is going to need to rely on a streamer at some point. To qualify as a streamer, you need to be a player who is being started in less than 50% of leagues. Below are my favorite streamers ahead of week 5 to help you win your matchup in fantasy football.

QB Streamer: Geno Smith SEA

After five weeks this season, Smith ranks 1st in the league in passing yards and was a popular waiver wire pickup this week after his 433 total yards on Monday night. His performance through 4 weeks has led him to being the QB8 in fantasy football. Smith has a surplus of weapons with DK Metcalf, Jaxon Smith Njiba, Tyler Lockett, Kenneth Walker, and Zach Charbonnet that make his week-to-week upside very high. The Seahawks face the Giants this week who currently ranked 15th against quarterbacks and total points in fantasy football. Smith is a good streamer option this week.

Honorable Mention: Trevor Lawrence JAX

RB Streamer: Kareem Hunt KC

Despite facing the Saints who rank 12th against running backs in fantasy football, Hunt is a good play at RB in week 5 if he suits up. Hunt was limited in practice on Thursday with a shoulder injury, clouding his status on Sunday. Him suiting up for practice yesterday is a good sign for his chances to play come Monday night. If Hunt is available expect him to be the RB1 in Kansas City this week. He led all running backs in snaps and received 16 touches. With the injuries on offense, expect the Chiefs to utilize their running backs more than normal over the next few weeks.

Honorable Mention: Trey Sermon IND

WR Streamer: Wan’Dale Robinson NYG

Malik Nabers was officially ruled out today with a concussion, slotting Wan’Dale Robinson into the WR1 role for the Giants. On the season he has 26 catches for 194 yards and 1 touchdown on 38 targets. Robinson dominates on short to intermediate routes giving him a high floor in PPR formats. The Seahawks allowed 42 points last week to the Lions while allowing Jared Goff to have a perfect completion percentage. Although the Seahawks will have some players on that defense back from injury it still is a good matchup for Robinson. He is a WR2 in PPR formats this week.

Honorable Mention: Dontayvion Wicks GB

TE Streamer: Tucker Kraft GB

The Rams are currently allowing the 3rd most points per game to tight ends while also ranking as the 3rd worst defense in fantasy football leagues. With the injury to Christian Watson, the Packers have vacated targets that should find Kraft’s way in week 5. Last week Kraft went for 6 catches for 53 yards with a touchdown on 9 targets putting up 17.3 PPR points. With the inconsistencies at TE this year, Kraft seems like a must start with his favorable matchup

Honorable Mention: Tyler Conklin NYJ

K Streamer: Cairo Santos CHI

The Bears offense showed signs of life in week 4 with their win over the Rams. In week 5 they have another favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers. The Panther currently allow the 4th most fantasy points to kickers on the season making Santos a good streamer at kicker this week.

Honorable Mention: Wil Lutz DEN

DEF Streamer: Denver Broncos DEF

The Broncos defense has been surprisingly good behind their pass rush scheme of defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. Through 4 weeks they rank as the 2nd best defense in fantasy football and have a matchup against the Raiders without Davante Adams. They should be in line for their 3rd straight 10+ points performance in week 5.

Honorable Mention: Washington Commanders DEF
