As we approach October, now is the time that the good and great GMs in Fantasy Leagues start to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. With upcoming byes to navigate, as well as injuries the fantasy season is in full swing. With Week 5 upcoming, here are 5 players that you need to start if you have them on your roster.
1. Trevor Lawrence QB (JAX)
The production from the QB position has been inconsistent so far in fantasy football. Lawrence is coming off of his highest-scoring output of the year with 18 points and is an intriguing option this week. The Jags take on the Colts this week, who have allowed the third most points to QBs so far through four weeks. The offense seems to be trending in the right direction and Lawrence should be in for his highest point total of the season against the Colts.
2. D’Andre Swift RB (CHI)
Swift, like Lawrence, is coming off of his best game of the 2024 season. Against the Rams, Swift had good volume, with 23 touches (16 carries, 7 catches). In those 23 touches, he posted 165 yards and a touchdown resulting in a 20+ point week. Swift has been inconsistent this season but draws a favorable matchup against the Panthers this week. I expect Swift to build off of his performance and be in for another big week.
3. Tucker Kraft TE (GB)
Kraft saw a big boost in targets with Jordan Love’s return, going from 5 targets combined in Weeks 2-3 to 9 in Week 4. With those 9 targets, he finished with 6 catches and added a touchdown which helped him finish with 11.3 PPR points. The Rams defense has struggled this season and has given up the 3rd most fantasy points to tight ends so far. Kraft should be in for another good game this week for the Packers.
4. Younghoe Koo K (ATL)
While a Kicker isn’t one of the more talked about Fantasy positions, it can always be crucial to winning or losing. The Falcons kicker is 12/12 this season on FGs, including a 4/4 performance last week where he dropped 20 points. The Falcons haven’t been able to finish drives but have moved the ball well to start the season. In a rivalry game against the Bucs, expect Koo to get chances multiple chances on Thursday night.
5. Xavier Worthy WR (KC)
The Chiefs are now down Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco, and Marquise Brown to start the season. Outside of Travis Kelce, Worthy will slot into the 2nd most targeted player in the Chiefs offense. We have seen the big play ability from Worthy early on in his career with 3 total touchdowns in 4 games. With that big play ability and an increased target share, Worthy should be in for some big weeks in fantasy football.
Honorable Mention: Commanders D/ST
The Commanders are a quality streamer play this week as they face the Browns. Browns QB Deshaun Watson has finished as the QB16 or worse in 3 of 4 weeks this season. They are also coming off of a disappointing loss to the Raiders without Maxx Crosby in the lineup. Washington’s Defense ranks as the 2nd worst fantasy defense on the season but with their improved play against the Cardinals last week they look to be trending in the right direction.
