Finding the best guys to fit into your lineup is not always the easiest task when dealing with bye weeks or injuries. Each week we drop three emergency starts that you can fill into your fantasy lineup and avoid a “bust” performance. Below are three players that can help you win your week in fantasy that are on waivers right now.
Andy Dalton QB (CAR)
Dalton is owned in 5.9% of leagues and has one of the best matchups this week among quarterbacks against the Washington Commanders. The Commanders rank 28th this season against opposing quarterbacks and have recently allowed 20+ points to four players this season. Notably, the Commanders will likely bully this weak Panthers defense, providing Dalton with the volume needed to produce in fantasy. The addition of Jonathan Brooks gives him another weapon on offense and through four games this season Dalton has 7 touchdown passes. I expect a 20-point outing from Dalton this week.
Tyler Goodson RB (IND)
Trey Sermon has struggled in the absence of Jonathan Taylor averaging 2.46 yards per carry on the season. Sermon has played 60% of snaps while Tyler Goodson has received the other 40%. Goodson has been the better back of the two and is coming off of his best game of the season. He had 8 carries for 51 yards and added 4 catches as well. I’m willing to bet the Colts increase Goodson’s snap share this week which makes him a valuable emergency start this week. The Colts matchup against the Dolphins is the 5th best for opposing running backs providing a great opportunity for the young RB to breakout
Jordan Whittington WR (LAR)
Whittington before the bye week was slowly working into that WR1 for Matthew Stafford with the injuries at receiver. With Cooper Kupp’s status in doubt, Whittington will be one of the best emergency plays at WR and Flex in week 7. In his last two weeks he has 13 catches for 151 yards on 18 targets. Those two performances produced 12.2 and 15.9 fantasy points in PPR leagues. If Cooper Kupp is out, I project him to finish right between those point totals this week.
