As usual, there were plenty of boom and bust players last week in fantasy football. Most leagues are at the halfway point in the regular season and we have a better idea of who will carry our teams and who are just along for the ride. Below are players who came up big for us in week 7 or barely showed up at all.
Boom
Tank Bigsby RB JAX 23.8 Points
With Travis Etienne sidelined, Tank Bigsby got the start and didn’t disappoint. Blitz Sports Media’s Ryan Linkletter had him as one of his top waiver targets and starts of the week and nailed it. Bigsby served as the bell-cow back carrying the ball 26 times for 118 yards and 2 TDs for 23.8 points. Even though Doug Pederson claims Etienne is the starter once he returns, Tank Bigsby belongs in your fantasy lineup.
Kareem Hunt KC RB 21.3 Points
After starting the season on the couch, Kareem Hunt landed firmly in our fantasy football lineups. He followed up his 18.2 performance in week 5 with 21.3 points this past week. Kansas City is leaning heavily on the run game with Hunt getting 22 of 30 carries by RBs. Until Isiah Pacheco returns, Kareem Hunt is a solid RB2.
Tight Ends
It was a bleak beginning of the season for Tight Ends in fantasy football. Finally, it seems like they’re starting to come around. Even though the players listed below weren’t drafted high, their respectable week 7 turnouts put them all firmly in the TE1 conversation
Player | Rec/Yds/TDs | Fantasy Points |
Zach Ertz | 4/40/1 TD | 12.0 |
Hunter Henry | 8/92 | 13.2 |
Kyle Pitts | 7/65 | 10.0 |
David Njoku | 10/76/1 TD | 18.6 |
Cade Otton | 8/100 | 14.0 |
BUST
CJ Stroud HOU QB 5.34 Points
Green Bay’s defense was all over Stroud sacking him 4 times. Even though he didn’t turn the ball over, he only managed 86 passing yards and no touchdowns. His 5.34 points was easily his lowest of the season. After a tough week, Stroud remains a QB1 and has a good bounce-back opportunity in week 8 against a weak Colts defense.
Tyreek Hill MIA WR 1.8 Points
Hill hit an all-time low in week 7 with TWO (!) targets resulting in one catch for 8 yards. He has not scored double-digit points or a TD since week 1. Tua Tagovailoa returns to the lineup in week 8 and should make Tyreek Hill a big fantasy threat once again. You’ll want him in your lineup as a WR1 for as long as Tua can stay on the field
Alvin Kamara NO RB 5.4 Points
Kamara had been a roll all season until it finally came apart on Thursday Night Football against the stingy Broncos defense. Kamara had just 13 touches for 24 yards and a measly 5.4 points. The Saints are down bad with injuries on offense, but Kamara remains healthy and should see plenty of volume going forward solidifying him as an RB1.
